Darling Door - Brand Identity
A fresh branding kit for the new home decor brand on the block.
Tools Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Adobe Express
A stay-at-home
mom pursuing her first endeavor as
an entrepreneur
The Darling Door is
a one-woman door decor business which creates seasonal door signs, run and operated out of Bee Caves, TX.
The business started when the client noticed her favorite door decoration business was shutting down—and that the families in her neighborhood still had the demand for seasonal door-signs, but no supply.
So the client decided to jump on the opportunity, and pursue a personal goal—to start and run her own company.
Her vision—a decorative style which embraces
the human in
the home.
As the client’s first entrepreneurial endeavor, she knew there was going to be a lot of trial and error, and many mistakes—and that all of these would be necessary to understand the process of starting a business. And although the client was inspired by the work of the other sign-makers, she had her own vision and style for her signs—less grunge and distressed materials, more bright colors and unbroken coats of paint.
The client wanted her signs to be clean and bright, while retaining the warm imperfection of hand-craft.
Her decorative style would find beauty in idiosyncracy and embrace imperfection with grace, the same way she would embrace her first business venture, or welcome guests at her door.
The ask—a fresh new brand identity and a social media branding kit.
Although the client was excited about starting and running her own business, she soon realized she would need a strong visual identity to build her brand’s presence, which would begin solely as an online store, through Instagram and Shopify.
Although her initial ask was simply for a logo, it soon became clear that the early growth of her business was dependent on her ability to produce new promotional content on her Instagram—a job description in and of itself.
This would be a huge task for someone with no design background, and would take time away from what she was most passionate about—handcrafting her products and running the business logistics.
